Roger De Sa, assistant coach of the Black Stars, has revealed that his contract with Ghana's national team is set to last solely until the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
The South African coach became part of the Black Stars' technical staff prior to the tournament taking place in the United States, Canada, and Mexico, following the appointment of Carlos Queiroz as head coach after Otto Addo's departure.
De Sa, who has a background as a goalkeeper and a seasoned coaching career, clarified that his arrangement with the Ghana Football Association (GFA) is exclusively for the World Cup duration, concluding at the end of July.
I have only been contracted until the end of July, so that’s all, De Sa told KickOff.
My agreement was just for the World Cup, and it terminates on the 31st of July, he added.
In Ghana's World Cup journey, the Black Stars kicked off with a slim 1-0 win over Panama, followed by a scoreless draw against England. They wrapped up the group stage with a 2-1 loss to Croatia, finishing third in Group L with four points.
Ghana progressed to the knockout phase as one of the best third-placed teams but were eliminated after a 1-0 defeat to Colombia in the Round of 32.
After their World Cup exit, the Black Stars will shift their focus to the qualifiers for the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations.
Ghana has been drawn into Group C alongside Côte d'Ivoire, Somalia, and The Gambia, with the qualifying matches set to begin in September.
