Super Eagles defender Benjamin Fredrick has been elevated to Brentford’s first-team roster in anticipation of the 2026/27 Premier League season.
The 21-year-old has also secured his future with the Bees by signing a new four-year agreement, which includes an option for the club to extend the contract by an additional 12 months.
Fredrick initially joined Brentford B on loan from Simoiben Football Academy in August 2023 and made such an impression that he earned a permanent transfer in April 2024.
Throughout his tenure with the B team, he was part of the matchday squad for two Premier League matches and two FA Cup games.
The centre-back spent the previous season on loan at Belgian Pro League club Dender EH, where he gained essential first-team experience.
Unfortunately, his season was cut short after he sustained a significant injury while playing for Nigeria in the 2026 FIFA World Cup African playoff against the Democratic Republic of Congo last November.
“We’re thrilled that Benji has signed a new contract and will be part of the squad this season, as we see immense potential in him and where we can develop his skills.
“He’s already gained experience in senior international football and was a crucial part of Nigeria’s squad during their World Cup qualifying journey.
“Last season, he had a very effective loan spell in Belgium that was regrettably interrupted by injury.
“The initial focus for Benji is to consistently integrate into the squad. His last appearance was in mid-November, so he has had a lengthy absence due to injury.
“He then needs to step into the first-team environment, compete with his teammates, and demonstrate the skills and character that I know he possesses.”
