Carlos Queiroz remains in his position as the head coach of the Black Stars, according to assistant coach Roger De Sa.
Roger De Sa, assistant coach of the Black Stars, has indicated that Carlos Queiroz is still the head coach of Ghana's senior national team despite circulating rumors about the future of the Portuguese coach.
Queiroz, who stepped in for Otto Addo temporarily ahead of the 2026 FIFA World Cup, seemed to suggest his exit after Ghana was eliminated, expressing on social media his pride in leaving his position.
Nevertheless, the 73-year-old later stated during a social media interview that he has not formally resigned from his role.
De Sa, who joined Ghana's coaching staff prior to the World Cup, has now shared that he has not received any formal notice confirming Queiroz's departure and is of the opinion that the Portuguese coach is still at the helm.
"I’m not sure if that’s official [that he’s left], I have only seen it on social media. But I don’t believe it came from him because he would have informed me if that were the case," De Sa mentioned in an interview with KickOff.
Ghana's World Cup journey started positively with a 1-0 win over Panama, followed by a goalless draw against England. However, they concluded the group stage with a 2-1 loss to Croatia, finishing third in Group L.
The Black Stars' tournament ended in the Round of 32 after a narrow 1-0 defeat to Colombia.
With their World Cup campaign now concluded, Ghana will shift their focus to the next significant challenge: qualifying for the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations.
The four-time African champions have been placed in Group C alongside Ivory Coast, Somalia, and The Gambia, with the qualifying matches set to commence in September.
