The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has appointed an Egyptian refereeing crew led by Amin Omar as the main referee for the match between Tanzanian side Simba and Guinea's 15 August in the CAF Champions League.
Amin Omar will be assisted by Ahmed Hesham Taha as the first assistant, Samir Gamal as the second assistant, and Mohamed El-Tabaei El-Ghazi as the fourth official. The match is scheduled to take place tomorrow, Wednesday, at 3 PM Cairo time at the Auhur Stadium in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania.
Behind the Selection of the Top Referee
Previously, Essam Abdel Fattah, head of the referees committee, stated that the committee worked transparently and fairly in the process of bringing in foreign referees for the top match, explaining the details of communication with several European countries to select the appropriate officiating crew for the game.
Abdel Fattah mentioned during a call with media personality Saif Zahir on the program "Malab On," which airs on ON Sport, that the committee reached out to five major countries, but Germany declined. Meanwhile, Spain and Portugal suggested unclassified referees, according to his description.
The head of the referees committee added that all World Cup referees have commitments to matches at the moment, and Polish referee Szymon Marciniak declined to officiate the match due to his commitment to a game in Saudi Arabia.
