African University Games 2026: Cameroon wins 3 medals in Cairo

The Cameroon team stands out at the 12th edition of the African University Games taking place from September 8 to 16, 2026, in Egypt, having already secured three medals in athletics and a final to come.

Cameroon is delivering an impressive performance in Egypt. At the 2026 African University Games, the Cameroonian delegation has already won three medals. Arriving in Cairo on September 8, the Cameroon team consists of 12 athletes primarily competing in athletics and table tennis. Among nearly 2000 participants representing 18 countries and 81 universities, Cameroonian students are making their mark.

The first notable achievement: Elvira Pongoué, who wins the silver medal in the long jump. This gives Cameroon its first silver medal at the FASU 2026. The second highlight: Manga Me Manga, a student at the University of Yaoundé 2, claims bronze in the final of the 110-meter hurdles. The athlete is not stopping there, as he is also qualified for the final of the 400-meter hurdles, presenting another opportunity to showcase the tricolor flag.

Finally, an impressive season finale for Kegne Fosso Désiré. The discus thrower stands out with a throw of 50.09 meters, earning a bronze medal. He becomes the second Cameroonian athlete to surpass the 50-meter mark this season.
