CAN Volley 2026: Cameroon crushes DR Congo 3-0

The Indomitable Lions made a stunning start to the 25th edition of the Africa Men's Volleyball Championship by defeating the Democratic Republic of Congo 3-0 [25-12, 25-21, 25-16] yesterday, September 15, at the El Menzah Sports Palace in Tunis. Cameroon aims to reach the podium and secure qualification for the 2027 World Championship and the 2028 Olympics.

Under the guidance of coach Jean Patrick Ndaki Mboulet, the team did not drop a single set: 25-12 in just 22 minutes, 25-21 in a closely contested money-time, and 25-16 to finish the match. With 12 aces and 8 successful blocks, the Lions showcased their ambitions.

The 25th edition of the Men's Africa Cup of Nations is taking place from September 13 to 25, 2026, in Tunis. Originally scheduled for Kinshasa, it was moved due to health concerns. Thirteen teams are competing in this tournament.

Placed in Group D, the only group with 4 teams, Cameroon will face Rwanda and the Central African Republic next.

The other groups are: Group A: Tunisia, Kenya, Ghana. Group B: Egypt, Morocco, Gambia. Group C: Algeria, Nigeria, Chad.

Beyond the continental title, this tournament also serves as a qualifier for the 2027 World Championship and the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics. All preliminary rounds will determine the seeding for the knockout stage.
