Aït Nouri Leaves “Les Verts” Camp

The Algerian Football Federation (FAF) announced today, Saturday, its decision to release defender Rayan Aït Nouri from the national team camp.

FAF stated that national coach Ibrahim Hamdani decided to exempt Aït Nouri from the current camp taking place at the Sidi Moussa center during this international break.

It clarified in a statement published on its official Facebook page that the left-back will return to his club, Manchester City.

The “Les Verts” defender sparked significant controversy in the match that took place yesterday, Friday, against the Zambia national team, where he started the game on the bench.

In the second half, Hamdani called Aït Nouri to potentially substitute him. However, the “Les Verts” coach changed his mind at the last moment after Zambia equalized, opting to bring in Boulbina to strengthen the attack.

This decision frustrated the Manchester City player, who strongly objected and refused attempts to calm him by the national team manager Moussa Saïb and his teammates.

As a result, Hamdani decided the following day to release Aït Nouri from the camp, which will continue with a match against Burundi on Tuesday, as part of the second round of the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers, and a friendly match against Niger on October 6.
