Al Ahly proves its determination with 13 points in 5 matches despite a high number of injuries

The season did not start easily for Al Ahly, as the team faced an early test that was not limited to on-field competition but was compounded by difficult circumstances due to injuries and significant absences affecting several key players.

A Tough Blow Before the Season Starts

Al Ahly entered the season with a major setback during the preparation period, as their starting full-back Youssef Belaïli suffered a cruciate ligament injury, forcing the team to begin their campaign without one of the important players relied upon by head coach Hussein Ammouta.

The absences did not stop there, as Al Ahly also missed Imam Ashour, who was not fit to participate since his injury with the Egyptian national team against Argentina in the World Cup, before returning to the squad in the fourth round against المقاولون العرب, where he came on as a substitute after a long absence.

The Shock of Amr El-Gazzar

Then came the bigger shock with the injury of key defender Amr El-Gazzar, who suffered a cruciate ligament tear, adding to the defensive woes, before Yasser Ibrahim also got injured with an ankle sprain, missing the fifth round, while the coaching staff tried to cope with the numerical shortage and rearrange the backline.

The injury saga did not stop there, as in the match against Abu Qir Fertilizers, Tahr Mohamed Tahr suffered an elbow injury, adding another case to the list of absentees that the coaching staff had to contend with.

13 Points from 15

Despite all these circumstances, Al Ahly managed to start strongly in terms of results, winning four matches and drawing one, accumulating 13 points out of a possible 15.

This start gives the coaching staff led by Ammouta more room to work, reflecting the team's ability to cope with absences and not allow negative circumstances to affect their primary goal of competing.

Egypt National Team Commitments

On another note, the league has currently paused due to the ongoing international break during which the Egypt national team is playing two matches against Angola in Cairo and South Sudan at home in the Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers on September 25 and 29, followed by a friendly against South Africa on October 4 in Cairo.

Al Ahly Faces Petrojet in the Capital Cup

Al Ahly is preparing for strong matches both domestically and internationally following the international break, as the Red Devils will face Petrojet on October 8 in the first round of group stage matches in the Capital Cup, which includes, along with Al Ahly, Petrojet, El Gouna, Eastern Company, and المقاولون العرب.
