The victory against Niger (2-1) did not hide Algeria's problems. After his first camp as coach of the Fennecs, Brahim Hemdani clearly identified the main area for improvement: defensive solidity.

“Defense is the issue that worries me the most,” the coach admitted after the match. Against Niger, Algeria particularly struggled in the first half, with Hemdani lamenting that his team endured more than implemented the planned pressing.

The Algerian coach also believes that his team needs to quickly gain more maturity. With 26 players assessed during this gathering, he now has a preliminary idea of his team's strengths and weaknesses, but he refuses to finalize his selection for now.

For Hemdani, time is of the essence: “We need to show much more maturity, and quickly, because when the level rises, we cannot be left behind.” The next gathering should therefore provide an opportunity to assess the initial progress in these various areas.
