Oct 8, 2026

Friendly matches are now behind us, and it's time for important challenges for the U23 national team as they prepare to play two official matches in November.

Having received a bye in the first round, the U23 national team finally knows its next opponent in the second round of the U23 Africa Cup of Nations 2027 qualifiers.

It is Eswatini (formerly Swaziland), which secured its qualification on Tuesday, October 6, 2026, by eliminating Malawi in the first round. They first won 1-0 away with a goal from Vilakati, before drawing 1-1 at home.

The two-legged tie between Algeria and Eswatini is scheduled between November 9 and 17, 2026. The Algerian federation has not yet determined the city or stadium that will host the return match on their territory.

It is worth noting that the U23 team recently played two friendly matches in South Africa. These matches ended with a 3-1 defeat, followed by a 1-1 draw.
