The Audi Formula 1 team has disclosed its intentions for long-term growth, which includes the establishment of a new 'campus' close to the current facility in Hinwil, Switzerland.

"Components of the new Campus on Zurichstrasse will be operational by summer 2026, with the complete development expected to finish in 2030," the team stated.

Peter Sauber founded his namesake team in 1970, utilizing Hinwil as its headquarters. Sauber managed Mercedes' sports car racing program throughout the 1980s before transitioning to F1 in 1993. BMW acquired the team in 2005, only to sell it back to Sauber in 2009.

Audi later phased into the operation, securing full ownership by January 2025. The Hinwil facility has needed significant investment, as the team had been functioning on a minimal budget since BMW exited. Both the Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) cluster and the wind tunnel underwent considerable upgrades.

Notably, the wind tunnel was financed through funds received from Mercedes for releasing Kimi Raikkonen from his Sauber contract to join McLaren in 2002. The site on Wildbachstrasse will be redeveloped, but the wind tunnel will remain intact.

Audi's engine development center will stay in Neuberg, and it will keep offices in Bicester. The team set up its UK satellite location to attract skilled personnel who were reluctant or unable to relocate to Switzerland.

Mattia Binotto, Audi F1 CEO and team principal

"The campus will be crucial in helping us attract and retain top-tier talent while laying the groundwork needed to realize our long-term goals," remarked Audi CEO and team principal Mattia Binotto.

"Establishing a successful Formula 1 team revolves around people. The finest engineers, designers, mechanics, and specialists seek to work in an environment that enables collaboration, innovation, and peak performance. The campus will facilitate the creation of such an environment."

"What makes this initiative especially unique is that it enables us to build the future of Audi Revolut F1 Team from scratch. Opportunities like this are infrequent in contemporary Formula 1.

"We are not merely relocating to an existing site; we are designing a home centered on our people, our culture, and our objectives. This campus is a vital part of that journey.

"We take pride in the fact that the next chapter of Audi Revolut F1 Team will unfold in Hinwil, and I would like to formally express my gratitude to the Municipality of Hinwil itself."
