Ballon d'Or 2026: The surprising decision of the Algerian voter!

As every year, the voters' choices for the Ballon d'Or raise questions, with some selections appearing questionable.
Algerian journalist Yazid Ouahib from the daily El Watan often faces this type of questioning, as although the process is largely subjective, it is essential to demonstrate a certain level of objectivity.
Consequently, the rankings assigned to Kylian Mbappé (7th) and Harry Kane (8th) seem surprising, especially since they were among the top favorites due to their impressive goal tally.
However, our representative favored those who won the most prestigious title in 2026, namely the World Cup, with no fewer than five Spanish players in the top 10.
While Lamine Yamal's first place is perfectly justified, the presence of Rodri in second place is more surprising, especially since Yazid Ouahib had ranked him 6th during his 2024 triumph. Similarly, Ferran Torres' position just off the podium, finishing 16th overall, is unexpected.
In any case, this is the second consecutive year he has placed Lamine Yamal at the top.
