The case of Youcef Belaïli is taking a new turn, both internationally and in Algeria. While the Algerian international continues his season with Espérance de Tunis, his affair with AC Ajaccio is set to reach a new stage before the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS), while MC Alger is strengthening its legal position regarding the dispute with the player.

The CAS has officially scheduled a hearing for November 10, 2026 regarding Belaïli's appeal against the sanction imposed by FIFA. The case, identified as CAS 2026/A/12520, pits the player against the international body in the context of the conflict related to his previous stint at Ajaccio.

This dispute dates back to the 2022-2023 season when disagreements arose over financial amounts and documents related to the conclusion of the player's adventure with the Corsican club. The case was then brought before FIFA due to accusations regarding contested documents. In March 2026, the international body imposed a twelve-month suspension on Belaïli.

The Algerian then appealed to the CAS to contest this decision. In August, the enforcement of the sanction was temporarily suspended, allowing him to resume competition with Espérance de Tunis. However, this measure does not necessarily represent a definitive resolution of the conflict.

November 10 will therefore be a crucial date. However, the scheduling of this hearing does not guarantee that a judgment will be rendered on the same day, as the decision depends on the progression of the procedure and the deliberations of the CAS.

MC Alger is also involved

Meanwhile, the Belaïli case is gaining another aspect with MC Alger. According to Compétition, the Mouloudia management, which claims to hold a signed commitment from the player, has decided to strengthen its legal arsenal by seeking the expertise of sports law attorney Slim Boulasnem. A meeting with the club's officials is planned to review the documents in their possession and the actual scope of the agreement made with Belaïli.

The conflict dates back to last summer, when Mouloudia announced an agreement with the Algerian international. The club specified that this was notably conditioned by the evolution of the player's legal situation and his medical examination. Subsequently, Belaïli continued his journey with Espérance, prompting MCA to defend its position.

The Algerian club is now seeking to clearly establish the steps to be taken with the relevant authorities. Between the Ajaccio-FIFA case before the CAS and the dispute with MCA, Belaïli finds himself at the center of two distinct procedures, the next steps of which could provide further clarity on his situation.
