Rosenborg: the sporting director is excited about Amin Chiakha

After an impressive run with Rosenborg, Amin Chiakha continues to make waves in Norway. The young Algerian international particularly impresses his sporting director, who sees him as one of the most promising forwards in Scandinavia.
Amin Chiakha keeps surprising everyone. Since Freyr Alexandersson took over as head coach of Rosenborg, the Algerian forward has been delivering standout performances and has quickly established himself as one of the main attractions in the Norwegian league.
This development does not really surprise Alfreð Finnbogason. The sporting director of Rosenborg, who is familiar with the Danish market, had already been monitoring the player before his arrival in Norway. In an interview with the Icelandic media Vísir, he discussed the details of his recruitment.
“Thanks to my network, I had observed him a bit. We found it fantastic when the opportunity arose to bring him in. We thus strengthened the center-forward position, aiming to create healthy competition. We knew he was a player with very high potential in terms of quality, and we included an option to buy in the contract in case he exploded here,” explained the Icelandic official.
Initially loaned from FC Copenhagen, Chiakha ultimately convinced Rosenborg to activate his purchase option in a deal estimated at nearly 5 million euros, making it the largest transfer ever for a player in the Norwegian league.
And the performances of the Denmark native today justify the club's management decisions. Voted the best young player of the month in the Norwegian league for the second consecutive time, the Fennec is in top form with Rosenborg.
“Since Freyr's arrival, he has been exceptional. I believe there has only been one match where he didn't score: he has about eleven goals and three assists in the last ten matches. For me, he is one of the most captivating forwards in Scandinavia right now. We had the option to buy him at a certain point, and we received good support from management to finalize the operation, the most significant for a player in the Norwegian league,” emphasized Alfreð Finnbogason.
At Rosenborg, they are pleased to have taken a chance on the 20-year-old forward. While the club aims to capitalize on his performances on the pitch, it also considers the possibility of making a good deal in the future.
“We took this risk, but we see great potential to resell him later. Above all, there is what he will bring us, at least until the end of the season. I don't know how long we will be able to keep him, but he has been able to thrive here in recent months and is extremely happy. It was a strong message from the club to show that we can recruit such a player if he fits our philosophy.”
This hints at an even more promising future for Chiakha at Rosenborg.
