Belghali wins the top title and reassures Hamdani.

Belghali Named Best Player and Assures Hamdani

Algerian international Rafiq Belghali was awarded the Best Player title in the match between his team Torino and Monza, which took place on Friday to kick off the eighth round of the Italian Serie A.

The “Greens” player contributed to Torino's thrilling 3-2 victory, scoring his team's second goal before being substituted in the 84th minute.

Belghali expressed his happiness at scoring and achieving the win, stating on Torino's official page: “Hello to the fans, I am very happy to score my first goal and achieve the victory.. Forza Torino!”.

The 24-year-old Algerian international has been performing excellently with Torino, having joined from Hellas Verona last summer, where he has recorded 4 goal contributions in 6 matches, including 1 goal and 3 assists.

This strong start gives the player a morale boost ahead of the upcoming camp for the “Greens” in November, which includes two matches against Togo in the third and fourth rounds of the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers.

Belghali hopes to continue his impressive form to return to the national team, after missing the first two rounds of the qualifiers against Zambia and Burundi due to a suspension imposed by CAF.

The CAF Disciplinary Committee had imposed a four-match suspension on the “Greens” defender, including two matches that are suspended, following events in the quarter-finals of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations against Nigeria, in addition to punishing goalkeeper Luca Zidane with a two-match ban.
