The President of Burkina Faso, Captain Ibrahim Traoré, expressed his admiration for the patriotism of the U23 Stallions who represented Burkina Faso against Argentina on October 4 in Buenos Aires. Faced with a particularly challenging context, these young athletes chose to rise to the occasion to ensure Burkina Faso honored its commitment for this international match.
“It is out of patriotism that they went to save the situation, to honor the promise made by the Federation,” stated the Head of State. Captain Ibrahim Traoré also shared that he followed the match with great interest. “I watched the match, I was amazed,” he emphasized, while highlighting the potential of Burkinabé youth: “We have potential in our youth.” According to him, this experience also serves as a source of motivation for the future. “It motivates me to reinvest in sports in general,” he added.
Beyond the performance of the young Stallions, the President of Burkina Faso mentioned possible upcoming decisions regarding Burkinabé football. “It is true that our football is suffering, and we will find solutions. Because to reinvest, we must first address the problem,” he declared. He announced that “this week,” significant decisions could be made. “New initiatives may emerge. And we will do everything to take care, especially, of the youth,” he continued.
Captain Ibrahim Traoré also spoke about a more direct involvement in the management of football. “Last time, I told the president of the Federation: we do not want to interfere in your affairs. But now, we have no choice; it is necessary for us to get involved, regardless of our status,” he affirmed. He specified that this approach aims to improve the organization of football, infrastructure, and the well-being of stakeholders.
“We will invest energy so that everyone can feel more comfortable and give their best. Whether in terms of infrastructure, care, and other aspects, we will seek to reform things,” concluded the President of Burkina Faso.
