The Cadillac Formula 1 Team, in collaboration with Tommy Hilfiger, has unveiled a Texas-inspired clothing line in anticipation of the United States Grand Prix in Austin, and it's generating a lot of excitement.

The Tommy Hilfiger x Cadillac Formula 1 Team Austin collection became available for purchase this past Tuesday. This isn't their first collaboration connected to a race; previous releases include collections for Miami and Mexico, with a Las Vegas line set to debut in November.

Five denim-based pieces

Denim serves as the foundation for these items, featuring chrome accents and a chevron-style American flag in Tommy Hilfiger's signature red, white, and blue.

For men, there’s a light-wash denim jacket inspired by the classic trucker design. Women can choose a denim vest adorned with a silver foil finish. The collection is further complemented by a T-shirt, a tank top, and a denim cap, making it even more enticing. And let's not forget Cadillac driver Valtteri Bottas, who is captured tipping his cowboy hat towards the camera at sunset, showcasing the chevron flag design on his back.

"A bit more fun with our American heritage"

Lee Holman, the chief design officer at Tommy Hilfiger, mentioned that the design team began with two of the brand's most iconic items.

"We took the staples of the Tommy wardrobe – the denim jacket and the white T-shirt – and explored how we could reinterpret them inspired by the essence of Austin," he stated.

"It’s about taking well-known pieces and offering them a new perspective, while remaining true to our classic American cool identity."

Cassidy Towriss, chief brand adviser for the Cadillac Formula 1 Team, shared that the Texas race provided both brands with an opportunity to express themselves more freely.

"Austin allows us to embrace our American heritage a bit more," Towriss remarked. "It’s fanwear designed for race weekend, yet made to be worn well beyond the paddock."

A home event for Cadillac

Tommy Hilfiger serves as the official apparel and fanwear partner for Cadillac, with driver Sergio Perez, who is Bottas’s teammate, also representing the brand as its global menswear ambassador. With the Austin event being the American team's second home race of the season, following the Miami Grand Prix earlier in May, Perez is eager to race closer to home.

“We are still about one to one-and-a-half seconds behind the leading cars, and what we truly need now is a more competitive car," Perez mentioned after his performance in Singapore. "Everything else has been progressing as anticipated, and I’m confident we will improve as a team. I’m really looking forward to Austin and Mexico, our two home races.

"Austin for the team, and Mexico will hold a special significance for me, racing in front of my home crowd and reaching 300 grands prix. It’s going to be an extraordinary weekend.”

Cadillac is still on the hunt for its first points in its inaugural season.
