The decision of the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) regarding the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations final is still pending. After the hearing, the arbitrators continue to review the arguments from both parties as well as the documentation before delivering their verdict.
The CAS held its hearing on October 8. Morocco and Senegal, the parties involved in this matter, along with CAF, were heard. Since then, all of Africa has been waiting. Eyes are fixed on Lausanne, with every football fan eager for any news. At the opening of the session, Matthieu Reeb stated that “it could take a few days, or even several weeks, if the arbitrators wish to draft a detailed decision with legal justifications” to obtain the verdict from the institution. The arbitrators seem to have chosen to produce a “detailed decision.”
In a statement released this Monday, the institution announced that its decision is expected “by the end of November.” The arbitrators are still reviewing the contents of the case. “This is an update regarding the decision related to the appeal filed by the Senegalese Football Federation (FSF) against the Confederation of African Football (CAF) and the Royal Moroccan Football Federation (FRMF). The hearing took place on October 8, 2026, at the CAS headquarters in Lausanne, Switzerland, behind closed doors. The arbitration panel has begun its deliberations and is currently continuing them. The CAS arbitrators have decided to issue a comprehensive decision, including legal justifications, referred to as the ‘CAS award.’ This process will take several weeks, and the CAS award is expected by the end of November 2026”, the statement indicates. This will only heighten the stress for both parties!
