CAN 2027 Qualifiers: Karim Dermane gives Togo the lead with a powerful shot (Half-time)

The Togo national team started their Africa Cup of Nations 2027 qualifying match against Burundi strongly.

Dominating the game, it was no surprise that Togo led 1-0 after just fifteen minutes of play. Following a poorly executed clearance by the Burundian defense, Karim Dermane unleashed a powerful shot that left the opposing goalkeeper with no chance, sending the ball into the back of the net.

Burundi then intensified their play, posing real challenges to the Togolese defense. Jean Claude Girumugisha, very active on the left flank of the Burundian attack, made several attempts but failed to convert.

Just before the break, Togo had the opportunity to extend their lead, but Arnaud Komlanvi, very lively, saw his attempt blocked by Burundian goalkeeper Jonathan Nahimana.

It was with a score of 1-0 in favor of Togo that the two teams headed to the locker rooms. In the second half, Togo will need to quickly look to secure their lead with a second goal to guard against a Burundian response.
