CRB: The Slimani case reappears at the CAS!

More than a year after his second stint at CR Belouizdad, Islam Slimani is once again at the center of the club's news, with a matter that could now have legal repercussions.
Islam Slimani and CR Belouizdad are now in opposition over a matter that transcends the sporting realm. According to El Heddaf and several Algerian media outlets, the striker has approached the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) to claim amounts he believes are still owed by his former club.
The Lausanne-based body has reportedly registered the request and scheduled a hearing for October 15, when both parties will be heard.
Slimani claims he did not receive the full amount of his salary arrears during his second spell at CRB. With no amicable agreement reached, the matter has taken a legal turn.
The exact amount claimed has not been officially disclosed, although several sources mention a considerable sum. Meanwhile, CRB's management plans to defend its position before the CAS and has not yet issued any statement detailing its viewpoint.
The relationship between Slimani and CRB remains particularly significant. Between 2009 and 2013, the striker played 122 matches across all competitions and scored 43 goals before moving to Sporting Portugal.
After returning to the club in September 2024, eleven years after his departure, he played only 12 matches for 3 goals during this second stint. His total with Chabab now stands at 46 goals.
In January 2025, Slimani left Belouizdad to join Westerlo in Belgium on loan. He then joined CFR Cluj in September 2025. October 15 will now mark a key date in this dispute, as the CAS is set to examine the contractual elements presented by both parties before making its decision.
