At 20 years old, Elyaz Zidane continues to play for Red Star, but a question looms over his future: which national team will he choose for the next stage of his career?
As the son of Zinédine Zidane, the young central defender has the option to represent both France and Algeria, but he has not yet revealed his intentions.
Trained at Real Betis, Elyaz Zidane has participated in several youth categories for the French national team, from U17 to U20. His journey with the Bleuets does not rule out Algeria, a country his brother Luca has represented for a year.
In an interview with Le Parisien regarding his international future, the Red Star player chose not to rush his decision.
“At 20, anything is possible. I refuse to put pressure on myself and prefer to focus on my game,” he stated, also sharing the emotions of growing up in the world of high-level football.
For now, Elyaz Zidane's main goal is to succeed in his season with Red Star.
“My only objective at the moment is to give my best for Red Star, to improve, and to help my team win. The future is yet to be written,” he affirmed.
His choice of future national team will have to wait, as the defender prefers to let his performances speak for themselves before making a decision.
