Algerian footballers are writing one of the brightest chapters in their club history. According to the Sofascore nation ranking, which is based on the average ratings of players in the ten biggest European leagues, Algeria ranks first with an average of 7.13.

To appear in this ranking, each nation must have at least ten players, and each player must have played at least 50% of the available minutes. With 22 representatives, the Fennecs surpass Norway (7.11), Germany and Croatia (7.01), England (7.00), as well as Brazil, Nigeria, Uruguay, Hungary, and Argentina.

This ranking, titled "Rise of the Fennecs," perfectly illustrates the impressive start to the 2026/27 season. Far from being a mere illusion, the collective performance relies on individuals in top form. Anis Hadj Moussa (Feyenoord) leads the Algerians with an exceptional rating of 8.34. Just behind him, Ibrahim Maza (Bayer Leverkusen) has a rating of 7.55, followed by Mohamed Belloumi with 7.41.

Statistically, Amine Gouiri and Anis Hadj Moussa share the top spot among scorers with six goals each, while Ibrahim Maza has already scored three. Regarding assists, Farès Ghedjemis leads with four assists, followed by Amine Gouiri and Rafik Belghali (three each).

This generation illustrates the continuous progress of Algerian football on the international stage. Top clubs (Leverkusen, Feyenoord, Marseille, Torino…) regularly rely on these technical and athletic talents. The "Nation Full of Stars" established by Sofascore shows that Algeria is no longer just fielding competent players: it is now developing elements capable of impacting high-level matches week after week.

While many major nations struggle to maintain a high collective level, the Fennecs impose their tempo. If this momentum continues, this generation could leave a lasting mark in the history of Algerian football in Europe.
