Ferdinand expresses regret over not signing Bouaddi.

Rio Ferdinand Expresses Regret Over Ayyoub Bouaddi's Omission
Rio Ferdinand, the former Manchester United defender, expressed his disappointment that his former team could not secure the services of Moroccan international Ayyoub Bouaddi, who has joined rivals Manchester City. He praised the midfielder's technical skills and his ability to handle match pressure.
Ferdinand revealed during his appearance on the podcast "Rio Ferdinand Presents" that Manchester United had a genuine interest in signing Bouaddi, but financial demands from French club Lille prevented the deal from going through, as officials at the English club deemed the asking price too high.
The former English defender stated: “Manchester United was 100 percent interested in him, but the asking price was just too high.”
Ferdinand was impressed by Bouaddi's performance during the UEFA Champions League match against Paris Saint-Germain, noting that his entry onto the pitch, despite Manchester City's defeat, left a positive impression, especially considering the calmness he displayed under competitive pressure.
He added, expressing his regret over the failed transfer: “I can’t believe we let him go. I’m really disappointed, he has great composure under pressure.”
Ferdinand's praise for Bouaddi extended beyond his current level, as he believes the Moroccan player has the potential to reach high levels, even suggesting that his qualities could see him surpass Elliot Anderson and Enzo Fernandez in a comparison of three midfielders.
Bouaddi continues to work on solidifying his position within the squad led by coach Enzo Maresca, after joining Manchester City during the summer transfer window in a deal valued at around €100 million.
His first starting appearance in the Premier League came last Saturday against Ipswich Town, in a match that ended with his team winning 3-2, a chance that bolstered his presence among the coaching staff's options and highlighted the progress he is making in his performance.
Ferdinand's comments reflect the growing interest in Bouaddi, as the Moroccan player continues to carve his path in one of Europe's strongest leagues, with fans hoping he can prove his abilities and establish himself in major competitions.
