Since joining Ferrari as a simulator and development driver this summer, Sacha Fenestraz has revealed that the renowned Italian team has assured him a Formula 1 test in 2027. This announcement follows his transition from Mercedes' Brackley facility to Ferrari's base in Maranello.

In an interview with Grande Premio during the Fuji race weekend for Super Formula, he confirmed his participation for the upcoming year.

“Honestly, it’s a dream come true to work there, and it’s incredible to be associated with such a prestigious name in motorsport," he stated. "The experience is fantastic; it’s somewhat similar to what I did with Mercedes in Brackley, but now I get to enjoy some delicious pasta in Italy and drive a Formula 1 Ferrari in the simulator, and possibly take part in a couple of tests next year as well, making it a truly remarkable opportunity.

“I’m set to have a test next year, and they’ve already confirmed that. I was meant to be there next week, but I can’t attend due to the Super GT race at Autopolis, so I guess it will happen in due time."

The Scuderia team has yet to officially announce it, while the Argentine driver mentioned that the aim is to enhance his simulator driving skills.

"I’m really eager for it, but of course, the priority for them is for me to get in the car to enhance my simulator skills. All simulator drivers need to get behind the wheel of a TPC car to gain experience relevant to a Formula 1 car, so I’ll just have to be patient for that opportunity."

Fenestraz has enjoyed a successful racing career in Japan, capturing the 2019 All-Japan Formula 3 championship and competing in Super Formula and Super GT. He also had a stint in Formula E with Nissan, finishing 16th in both the 2022 and 2023 championships.

At Ferrari, Dino Beganovic will take on the role of reserve driver in 2027, alongside Antonio Giovinazzi, after departing from the team’s Driver Academy.
