FIFA Visits Morocco's Stadiums in Preparation for the World Cup
The International Football Association (FIFA) announced today, Tuesday, its plan to conduct inspection tours in the cities nominated to host the 2030 World Cup in Spain, Portugal, and Morocco during November and December, as part of the critical phase of selecting the stadiums that will host the tournament matches.
A FIFA delegation will visit the selected cities and stadiums in the three countries to assess their readiness and compliance with the organizational and technical standards necessary to host the global event.
So far, FIFA has not finalized the list of host stadiums, nor has it selected the venue for the final match, with Spain and Morocco competing to host the tournament's most prominent event.
The planned visits include the cities of Agadir, Casablanca, Fez, Marrakech, Rabat, and Tangier in Morocco, as well as Lisbon and Porto in Portugal, and Barcelona, Bilbao, Las Palmas, Madrid, San Sebastián, Seville, and Zaragoza in Spain.
FIFA mentioned that it may add other stadiums to the visit schedule during the evaluation process.
The international federation also added that the distribution of matches and the classification of scheduled encounters for each city will only be determined after the final list of host stadiums and cities is approved, and the tournament match schedule is completed.
The three opening matches of the 2030 World Cup will take place in Argentina, Uruguay, and Paraguay, celebrating the centenary of the first edition of the tournament held in Uruguay in 1930.
