Bayern Munich Praises Harry Kane's Humility
Bayern Munich assistant coach Aaron Danks praised English striker Harry Kane on Tuesday after he won the Ballon d'Or as the world's best player, noting that the forward will be focused on achieving his "next goal."
Kane (33 years old) received this prestigious award for the first time in his hometown of London on Monday evening.
Danks, who is leading the team while Belgian coach Vincent Kompany recovers in the hospital from a virus, stated that the England captain's achievement of the highest individual award in football will not change his mindset.
He added in a press conference on Tuesday: "I am very happy for him and proud of what he has achieved. I know Harry well, and all his focus now will be on his next goal, his future performances, and his upcoming matches."
He continued: "He will return directly to the professional and humble mentality that has taken him to this level."
Kane has won numerous scoring awards and finished second in the Premier League and the UEFA Champions League with Tottenham, but he only achieved his first collective title after moving to Bayern Munich in 2023.
Since joining Munich, Kane has won the Bundesliga twice and the DFB-Pokal, and reached the semifinals of the Champions League in two out of three seasons with the Bavarian club.
Danks pointed out that the former Tottenham striker is finally receiving the recognition he deserves.
He added: "I remember years ago, when he was in England, everyone talked about him not winning titles, but if you look at his career and what he has achieved, you will find that he has had a remarkable career."
He continued: "He led the England national team to the European finals and took Tottenham to the Champions League final."
He added: "Perhaps he did not receive the proper recognition in terms of titles, but things are starting to improve for him now."
Kane and the rest of the Bayern squad who traveled to London for the awards ceremony will return to Munich later on Tuesday, in preparation for their match against Magdeburg, a second division team, on Wednesday in the DFB-Pokal.
Danks also revealed that he visited Kompany in the hospital, explaining that the coach, who was admitted on Friday after collapsing at training, is improving.
He said: "His spirits are good. He seems to be getting better day by day. There are no major updates regarding the diagnosis or when he will return to work. Things are very calm; let him rest and recover."
