The International Football Federation (FIFA) plans to introduce a new funding scheme worth $6.35 billion aimed at enhancing football development programs from 2027 to 2030. This will enable member national associations, including the Royal Moroccan Football Federation, to access additional financial resources.

According to a source familiar with the matter, Agence France-Presse reported that the upcoming plan includes allocating $25 million to each of the 211 national associations under FIFA's umbrella, in addition to funding designated for continental federations, as part of a review of support methods over the next four years.

FIFA is expected to partially rely on its financial reserves to fund this increase, benefiting from the substantial commercial revenues generated by the 2026 World Cup, which has given the international football body the capacity to expand its funding capabilities.

This initiative follows calls from UEFA President Aleksander Čeferin and CONCACAF President Victor Montagliani to increase support for national associations by at least an additional $10 million for each federation.

The FIFA Council is scheduled to discuss the plan during its meeting on Thursday in Zurich, Switzerland, with FIFA President Gianni Infantino and the thirty-six council members in attendance, and a vote on the project will take place before its implementation.

The meeting coincides with discussions within FIFA regarding governance reform, after Infantino backed away from the idea of opening the organization to private sector investments following objections from prominent continental federations, including UEFA, the Asian Football Confederation, and CONCACAF.

Infantino began consultations with national associations at the end of September regarding reforms to the international body's operational mechanisms, as he prepares to run for re-election in March 2027, a decade after taking office.

The adoption of the new plan will allow the Royal Moroccan Football Federation to benefit from the funding allocated to national associations, according to the regulations that FIFA will set for implementing development programs during the upcoming cycle.
