France: Bezahaf racks up points in Marseille! (video)

In a significant evening for Olympique de Marseille, several young talents shone. Among them, Kyliann Bezahaf particularly caught the attention of Bruno Genesio, who praised his performance at the end of the match.
Kelyann Bezahaf made a successful entry into the professional world. Starting for the first time in Ligue 1 this Sunday, during Olympique de Marseille's trip to Troyes, the promising right-back delivered a notable performance, contributing to the Phocéens' victory (2-0). A promising debut for someone who took advantage of absences in the Marseille squad to gain playing time.
Positioned on the right flank due to Timothy Weah's suspension, the 20-year-old defender rose to the occasion in a challenging context. With OM struggling with a series of disappointing results, Bruno Genesio opted to trust youth to try to revive his team's momentum. This decision proved fruitful, as Bezahaf and Nouhoum Kamissoko, also starting for the first time in the league, both received praise from their coach.
“Kamissoko and Bezahaf were very impressive. It's the audacity of youth! They were ultimately the two most liberated players tonight,” said the Marseille coach to Ligue 1+'s microphone. A valuable recognition for the young defender, who seized this opportunity to make a good impression on his coaching staff.
Having been with Marseille since joining the youth academy in 2017, Bezahaf continues a carefully constructed progression. Winner of the Coupe Gambardella in 2024, he also made his debut in the Youth League before signing his first professional contract in the summer of 2026. Having already appeared in Ligue 1 against Paris Saint-Germain, he took a new step by starting a match this time.
Although this first starting appearance does not guarantee a permanent place in the squad, it could nonetheless open new opportunities for the young Olympian. In a period where absences force Genesio to consider other options, Bezahaf has proven he can rise to the occasion when the opportunity presents itself.
A great first start for Kylian Bezahaf with OM (2006) https://t.co/YlxRiG2kKc
