France: New warning for Samir Chergui

Just back from international duty, Samir Chergui has once again been forced to stop due to a physical issue with Paris FC. Frequently injured in recent seasons, the Algerian international is now waiting for information regarding the severity of his injury.
Returning from the international break, where he played only 90 minutes for Algeria against Zambia, Samir Chergui immediately reclaimed his starting spot with Paris FC. Liam Rosenior had renewed his trust in him for the match against Lorient, but the evening ended prematurely for the Algerian defender.
After just over an hour of play, Chergui was physically affected and remained on the ground before being replaced by Otávio in the 66th minute. A bad coincidence for the Parisians: just two minutes later, Gabin Bernardeau opened the scoring for Lorient. That goal was enough to hand Paris FC their first defeat of the season in the league (1-0).
This new alert is understandably concerning given the player's recent history. Chergui had already endured a lengthy absence between May 2024 and January 2025, and was hindered multiple times by hamstring issues during the 2025-2026 season. His physical condition has regularly prevented him from stringing together matches.
For now, Paris FC has not communicated the exact nature of this new injury or any potential duration of unavailability. Chergui will have to wait for medical examinations to assess the severity of his problem and determine if he faces another period away from the pitch.
