After scoring with a header against Stuttgart, Ibrahim Maza continues to improve his statistics. The Algerian midfielder recorded his fourth goal of the season, but could not prevent Bayer Leverkusen's defeat.

While the Klassiker between Bayern and Dortmund offered a chance to close in on the top spots, Leverkusen completely collapsed at home against Stuttgart, losing 2-4 at the BayArena in the opening match of Matchday 8. However, amid this debacle, Ibrahim Maza once again shone.

Starting from the beginning, the Algerian midfielder took control of the game. Between the lines, whether with his back or facing the goal, he demonstrated his technical precision. One particular action stood out: surrounded by four players in a tight space, he managed to escape along the touchline.

He also found the back of the net. In the 79th minute, with Bayer trailing 4-1, Maza, well-positioned in the box, headed a cross into the left corner of the goal, unstoppable.

Before this match, he had 3 goals and 3 assists in 11 appearances across all competitions this season, bringing his total to 4 goals. This consistency caught the attention of Lionel Messi: the eight-time Ballon d'Or winner ranked him third in his vote for the Kopa Trophy, behind Lamine Yamal and Pau Cubarsí. The only voter to select him, Messi awarded him the point that placed him in ninth position.
