Ibrahim Maza could soon see his situation change at Bayer Leverkusen. The German club wants to better protect the Algerian international, who attracted interest during the last transfer window, while also acknowledging his progress.
Ibrahim Maza could soon be rewarded for his progress at Bayer Leverkusen. According to information from SPORT BILD, the German club is considering revising the terms of the contract of the Algerian international, who is currently tied to the club until June 2030. An initial discussion between the parties is said to have already taken place last week.
Bayer's goal is twofold: to extend his contract while offering him a significant salary increase. Maza currently earns less than three million euros per season, placing him in the bottom third of the team's salary scale. Leverkusen therefore wants to adjust his pay to reflect his new status within the squad.
At just 20 years old, the attacking midfielder has quickly gained importance since his arrival from Hertha Berlin in the summer of 2025. This season, he has participated in the first three Bundesliga matches, already scoring one goal and providing one assist. His ability to operate between the lines makes him a regularly used player now.
This extension initiative also comes after several approaches during the summer transfer window. The Atlético Madrid was notably among the clubs interested in his profile. Bayer Leverkusen aims to secure Maza's future and prevent suitors from returning during the next transfer windows.
