The GFA announced this weekend through an official statement. “This decision was made following a productive meeting between the GFA management and the Ministry on Friday, October 2, 2026, in Accra.”
The committee will be led by former vice president of the Ghana Football Association, Mr. Fred Pappoe, who has extensive experience in football administration and governance.
Pappoe will be assisted by four other prominent members:
Anthony Baffoe – Secretary General of the Professional Footballers Association of Ghana (PFAG) and former Ghana international, Agbesi Dzakpasu (Esq.) – Lawyer and football administrator, Stephen Appiah – Former captain of the Black Stars, and Faisal Chibsah – High-performance expert.
“In accordance with its mandate, the Committee is tasked with identifying, evaluating, and recommending a suitable candidate for the vacant position of Black Stars coach.”
“The committee will submit its report to the Ghana Football Association. The position of Black Stars coach became vacant on Thursday, October 1, 2026, following the resignation of Portuguese coach Carlos Queiroz after the September international window.”
“The Ghana Football Association (GFA) and the ministry wish to assure Ghanaians that a transparent and merit-based process will be established to recruit a competent coach who will guide the Black Stars in upcoming competitions.”
