Gulf Cup 27 Final: UAE seeks the trophy and a "historic achievement"

The UAE team is preparing to face Saudi Arabia in the final of "Gulf 27" next Tuesday at the King Abdullah Sports City Stadium in Jeddah, after qualifying for the final with a narrow victory over Oman in the semifinals.

The final match gives the UAE team the chance to surpass its best scoring record in the history of its Gulf Cup participation if it manages to score two or more goals, in addition to its pursuit of a third title in the tournament, having won the championship in the eighteenth edition in 2007 and the twenty-first edition in 2013.

The UAE team kicked off its campaign in the tournament with a resounding 4-0 victory over Yemen, followed by 3 goals against Bahrain, one goal against Qatar at the end of the group stage, and another goal against Oman in the semifinals, bringing its total to 9 goals.

The UAE team now needs to score just one goal in the final match against Saudi Arabia to match its best scoring record in a single edition of the Gulf Cup, which stands at 10 goals. This record was achieved twice: first in the eighth edition held in Bahrain in 1986, when it scored 10 goals in 6 matches, and second in the twenty-first edition hosted by Bahrain in 2013, after netting 10 goals in 5 matches.
