Ibrahim Hassan: Marwan Attia is not allowed to play against Angola due to suspension

Ibrahim Hassan, the manager of the Egypt national team, reported that the squad will miss several players due to injuries, most notably Mahmoud Trezeguet and Yasser Ibrahim. Marwan Attia will be absent from the match against Angola only due to suspension, as he received a two-match ban from the Confederation of African Football (CAF), which will also see him miss the third-place playoff against Nigeria in the Africa Cup of Nations 2025, held in Morocco.

The Egypt national team will begin its training camp under coach Hossam Hassan on Thursday, kicking off its continental journey with matches against Angola and South Sudan in the qualifiers for the Africa Cup of Nations leading to the 2027 finals.

Details of the Tournament Hosting and Qualification System

Kenya, Uganda, and Tanzania will host the tournament in a historic event where the competition will be organized in three countries for the first time. The events will start on June 19, 2027, and continue until July 17 of the same year. The qualification mechanism divides 48 teams into 12 groups, with the top two teams from each group qualifying directly for the finals.
