Injuries Plague Nadir Ben Bouali at Pyramids
Algerian international Ahmed Nadir Ben Bouali continues to struggle with injuries at his club Pyramids FC after suffering a new muscle injury during the match against South Sudan's Al-Merrikh Banjul on Saturday in the second leg of the preliminary round of the CAF Champions League.
Pyramids secured a convincing 4-0 victory, ensuring their progression to the group stage with an aggregate score of 5-0 over the two legs, but the joy of the win was overshadowed for the Algerian forward, who faced an unfortunate ending in the closing minutes of the match.
Ben Bouali came on in the last half hour of the game and scored his team's fourth goal just seconds after entering the pitch, but he then suffered a muscle injury that forced him to leave the field without the team able to substitute him, as they had exhausted all their changes, leaving Pyramids to finish the match with ten players.
This injury is not the first for the Algerian striker since joining the Egyptian side during the last summer transfer window, as he has dealt with physical issues that kept him out of Pyramids' first two official matches this season against Ghazl El Mahalla and Abu Qir Fertilizers, due to an injury he sustained before leaving his previous club, Gyo Itor in Hungary.
After recovering, Ben Bouali made his debut against Al-Gouna but could not complete the match, participating for only 27 minutes before being substituted due to injury, which later tests revealed to be a tear in his hamstring. This injury sidelined him from matches against Kenyan side Gor Mahia and Eastern Company, and also led to his exclusion from the Algerian national team roster during the September and October training camps.
Upon returning to competition, the 26-year-old played in matches against Ceramica Cleopatra, Tala'ea El Gaish, and Al-Qanah, before making his fifth appearance for Pyramids against Al-Merrikh Banjul, the match in which he sustained his latest injury.
It is worth noting that Ben Bouali scored his third goal for Pyramids this season, having opened his scoring account in the cup match against Al-Qanah and then netting a goal in the Egyptian league against Cleopatra.
