Kilia Namour Aims for World Gold to Make Up for Yesterday's Disappointment
Algerian champion Kilia Namour is set to compete for the gold medal in the women's uneven bars final this Saturday evening at the World Artistic Gymnastics Championships taking place in Rotterdam, Netherlands.
The Olympic champion aims to secure a world medal during the championship, which runs from October 17 to 25, to make up for the disappointment she faced in the individual all-around final, where she finished fourth last Friday.
Kilia Namour, who topped the qualifiers, narrowly missed out on the podium, scoring 54.998 points, just 0.034 points behind the bronze medalist.
The Algerian champion enters today’s final with the ambition of winning the world title on the apparatus where she excelled at the Paris 2024 Olympics, having topped the qualifiers with a total of 14.933 points, making her one of the top contenders for the gold.
The women’s uneven bars final is expected to begin at 16:27 local time in the Netherlands, 15:27 Algeria time, and Kilia Namour will also compete in the balance beam final on Sunday, providing another opportunity to contend for a world medal.
