Lewis Hamilton acknowledges that his candid personality has complicated his transition to Ferrari.

Seven-time Formula 1 titleholder Lewis Hamilton has acknowledged that his forthright demeanor has complicated his ability to acclimate at Ferrari alongside Charles Leclerc, stating that "it’s not particularly easy having someone like me join a team."
Hamilton, who became part of the Maranello squad at the beginning of the 2025 season, encountered a conflict with Leclerc during the initial lap of last weekend's Mexican Grand Prix.
Leclerc attempted to pass Hamilton, who was in pole position, but both drivers veered off the track. Hamilton fell from first to third behind Max Verstappen, and Leclerc received a five-second penalty.
In a post-race interview in Mexico City, the British driver called for "serious discussions" within the team and has since addressed the matter again in Brazil.
"He’s been here a long time," Hamilton remarked when asked if Leclerc's established connection with Ferrari had made his transition more difficult. "Eight years and nine victories with the team. He is deeply embedded within the team, and I realize it would always be a challenge.

"I’ve always respected that, and I’ve approached the team and really put in the effort to foster a positive relationship with Charles, aiming to bridge the gap and ensure we work together harmoniously. I’ve consistently tried to be respectful."
He elaborated on why he thinks his entry at Ferrari was likely to raise some caution among team members.
"Naturally, it’s not straightforward having someone like me join a team, as I’m quite vocal and I advocate for numerous changes," he continued. "And I will continue to advocate for more. As long as I’m here, that’s how it will remain.
"I’m here to achieve victory, and to secure wins, collaboration with everyone around you is essential. You must push, and I must push. I also need to be challenged to grow. We can all strive to improve and be better, and I genuinely believe that this team has the potential to contend for the championship next year."
