Mokwena: A coach's success depends on the players' level, and the Egypt national team is among the favorites to win the Africa Cup of Nations.
South African coach Rulani Mokwena of Pyramids FC confirmed that the club is progressing steadily thanks to the significant efforts made by the management and the previous coaching staff, noting that Pyramids has managed to form a strong team by attracting a distinguished group of players.
Mokwena: Pyramids management succeeded in forming a strong team
Mokwena stated in an interview during the "Here Cairo" program on ON Sport Max that the previous coaching staff built Pyramids well, and the management did a great job assembling a strong group of players, explaining that this reflects the club's success in selecting the right signings for the team.
The coach added for Pyramids: "There is significant effort from the sporting director, the contracts manager, and the club president, and everyone is working to build a strong team."
Mokwena: Ziko has a real instinct for reaching the goal
Mokwena spoke about Mustafa Ziko, a player for Pyramids and the Egyptian national team, confirming that the player has shown remarkable development during his participation in the World Cup when he was used as a center forward, benefiting the Egyptian national team significantly.
Mokwena explained: "Ziko has a real instinct for reaching the goal and creates space for himself through his smart movements, and I lean towards this type of player. However, he returned injured from the World Cup and was delayed in entering the preparation phase, which made him lag behind us a bit, so he didn't have the opportunity to integrate with the team as he should have."
Mokwena: Ziko has a greater ability than Marmoush to enter the penalty area
Mokwena praised the current generation of the Egyptian national team, confirming that the Pharaohs have a large number of distinguished players, pointing to Omar Marmoush's skills, and emphasizing that Pep Guardiola utilized him well.
He continued: "Ziko has a greater ability to enter the penalty area compared to Marmoush, and the presence of Imam Ashour adds dynamism and movement. This is a very strong generation, and I was not surprised by the level the Egyptian national team presented in the World Cup. I consider them a contender for the Africa Cup of Nations."
Mokwena: Koller is one of the best coaches to lead Al Ahly
The coach for Pyramids also discussed Marcel Koller, the former coach of Al Ahly, confirming that he is a very skilled coach and will be remembered in history as one of the best coaches to lead the Red team.
Mokwena said: "Koller's departure from Al Ahly was difficult, but Pitso Mosimane and Koller have created a great history and achieved remarkable successes with Al Ahly."
Mokwena: The quality of the coach is linked to the quality of the players
Mokwena concluded his statements by referring to his previous encounters against Al Ahly when he was the coach of Sundowns, confirming that the quality of the coach is always linked to the quality of the players.
He said: "What we achieved against Al Ahly was related to the level of the players who were in my team at Sundowns at that time."
