Pyramids FC coach Moatasem Salem expressed his great happiness at his team's qualification for the group stage of the CAF Champions League, emphasizing that winning 5-0 on aggregate against South Sudan's Al Merrikh Bentiu is an ideal start to the team's continental campaign.
Salem stated in press remarks after the match: "We achieved a good victory, and now we will move on to the more challenging rounds of the CAF Champions League. We hope to continue achieving these positive results both locally and continentally."
The Pyramids coach added that the team has learned many lessons from the mistakes made in previous years, stressing the importance of not underestimating any opponent and maintaining the highest level of focus in all matches. He confirmed that the club adopts the motto of competing fiercely to win all the tournaments it participates in this season.
Moatasem Salem discussed the nature of competition in the Champions League, explaining that the tournament features intense competition and includes strong clubs with significant experience, such as Tunisian club Esperance, Moroccan club RS Berkane, and South Africa's Orlando Pirates, in addition to their local rival Zamalek. He noted that the tournament will not be affected by the absence or exit of a team as significant as Mamelodi Sundowns.
It is worth mentioning that Pyramids FC has secured its place in the group stage of the CAF Champions League with merit, having defeated the South Sudanese champion with an aggregate score of 5-0 in the two-legged preliminary round.
