Netherlands: Zerrouki scores in Twente's offensive showcase (video)
Ramiz Zerrouki finds his footing in the Netherlands and sends a positive message ahead of the upcoming gathering of the Greens. He aims to maintain this momentum to regain the trust of Brahim Hemdani.
Ramiz Zerrouki took advantage of FC Twente's resounding success to showcase his talents. On Sunday, the Algerian midfielder contributed to his team's impressive performance against Excelsior Rotterdam (0-9) during the 11th round of the Dutch league. As a starter, he played the entire match and also scored.
In the 71st minute, Zerrouki successfully converted a penalty, adding to Twente's offensive display. This goal marks his first in the Eredivisie this season and his third across all competitions. At 28, the Fennec is gradually regaining his confidence in a familiar environment.
This goal also follows a significant strike in the Conference League against FC Thun, which helped his team secure a valuable victory. These two goals enhance his momentum as he seeks to reclaim a prominent position after a challenging period at Feyenoord.
Back at Twente after a loan spell last season, Zerrouki appears to be benefiting from a conducive context to revive his season. His team is currently fourth in the Dutch league, just two points behind leaders Feyenoord.
A return to the Greens still uncertain
These performances come at a crucial time for the Algerian international. Excluded from Brahim Hemdani's latest squad, Zerrouki hopes to return to the national team for the upcoming gathering. However, competition in midfield remains particularly fierce, with Nabil Bentaleb, Himad Abdelli, Hicham Boudaoui, Adem Zorgane, and Yassine Titraoui all in contention.
His goal against Excelsior is a positive signal, but he will need to confirm this upward trajectory to convince the Algerian coach.
