Dr. Ahmed Gaballah, head of the medical staff for the first team of Al Ahly, announced that Amr El-Gazzar, the team's defender, will undergo arthroscopic surgery to reconstruct the anterior cruciate ligament on Tuesday in Munich, under the supervision of German expert Christian Brahl.
Gaballah explained that he will travel today, Sunday, with the player to Germany to complete all necessary arrangements, tests, and analyses before the surgery.
Meanwhile, Moroccan coach Hussein Amouta has urged the club's management to strengthen the defense with two strong signings during the upcoming winter transfer window in January, due to the difficult circumstances facing the team's backline because of consecutive injuries.
Amouta spoke with Al Ahly's management in recent hours about the challenges the team's defense is facing, the most notable being Amr El-Gazzar's injury with a torn ACL, in addition to Yasser Ibrahim's ankle sprain, as well as the absence of Moroccan player Youssef Belaïli, the team's left-back, after suffering a torn ACL during the pre-season preparations.
The head coach of Al Ahly assured the club's management of his complete confidence in the current defenders and their technical abilities, emphasizing his reliance on them. However, the difficult circumstances and recent injuries affecting the backline necessitate strengthening the team with new players.
Amouta stressed the importance of signing distinguished defenders during the winter transfer window, calling for early preparations for these reinforcements, especially with several strong candidates that could add value to the team in the upcoming phase.
