The basketball court at the Stade du 4-Août hosted an introductory event for adaptive sports aimed at injured soldiers on Saturday, October 24, 2026. Organized by the Central Sports Directorate of the Armed Forces (DCSA), in partnership with the Agency for the Support of Widows, Orphans, and War Victims (ASVOVIG) and the Central Directorate of Health Services of the Armed Forces (DCSSA), this initiative was presided over by Commander Hien Louis Remy, the central director of sports for the armed forces.
Focusing on wheelchair basketball, the event aimed to introduce participants to the opportunities offered by adaptive sports. Introductory sessions and exhibition matches punctuated the event, allowing injured soldiers to try their hand at this discipline and share enjoyable moments around sports.
Beyond the competitive aspect, this initiative aims to promote physical rehabilitation, psychological recovery, and social reintegration for injured soldiers. Wheelchair basketball thus proves to be a means of regaining self-confidence, enhancing resilience, and maintaining social connections despite the challenges associated with disabilities.
Through this activity, the DCSA, ASVOVIG, and DCSSA reaffirm their commitment to supporting injured soldiers. This initiative highlights that adaptive sports are an essential tool for reconstruction, cohesion, and personal growth.
