Referees Committee: Omar Artan will settle in Egypt if approved to officiate league matches.

Officials from the referees committee of the Egyptian Football Association announced that Somali referee Omar Artan will settle in Egypt if his request to officiate matches in the Egyptian Premier League this season is approved.

The referees committee officials clarified that Essam Abdel Fattah, the committee chairman, welcomed this request after receiving a letter from the Somali Football Federation to its Egyptian counterpart. However, the final decision will be made by the board of the Egyptian Football Association in its scheduled meeting tomorrow, Monday.

The referees committee officials indicated that Omar Artan's participation in the Egyptian league would be a positive step, especially since he is considered one of the best referees in Africa in recent times.

Egyptian Football Association to make a decision on Somali referee Omar Artan's request in the upcoming meeting

The board of the Egyptian Football Association will discuss Somali referee Omar Artan's request to officiate in the Egyptian Premier League during the next meeting, after Essam Abdel Fattah, the head of the Egyptian referees committee, received an official request from the Somali referee to manage matches in the tournament.

World Cup crisis leads to a change in the Somali referee's path

Omar Artan faced an issue that prevented him from realizing his dream of officiating at the 2026 World Cup, after he was denied entry into the United States upon arriving at Miami Airport last June.

Following that incident, the Somali referee received an invitation from UEFA to officiate the UEFA Super Cup match between Paris Saint-Germain and their opponent, which ended with the French team winning 2-1.
