Elected as the head of the Rwandan Football Federation (FERWAFA) in August 2025, Fabrice Shema has officially announced his resignation.

This unexpected departure ends a short term, marking a new turning point at the top of Rwandan football. During his few months in office, the leader sought to inject new energy to reorganize the federation and promote the status of national football. The exact reasons for this sudden decision have not yet been fully disclosed by the governing body.

FERWAFA will now have to manage the transition through its executive committee and plan for new elections in accordance with the timelines set by the regulations. This twist of fate forces Rwandan football to quickly regain institutional stability to continue advancing with its ongoing projects.
