Quadri Liameed
In the latest LaLiga2 match between Albacete and Sabadell, a concerning situation unfolded. Quadri Liameed, the visiting team's midfielder, suffered a severe head injury and remained unconscious on the field for some time. After receiving initial treatment on-site, he was transported to the hospital by ambulance.
The Nigerian was seriously injured in the 42nd minute by Albacete forward José Corpas, who attempted a shot from about sixteen meters. However, Liameed managed to deflect the ball with his head, seemingly trying to clear it.
He collapsed almost immediately and lost consciousness. The medical team quickly intervened and was able to stabilize Liameed. A few minutes later, he regained consciousness and was taken away on a stretcher.
The club promptly issued an official statement: “Quadri Liameed has been transferred to a medical facility for examinations. He left the field conscious, accompanied by a member of our medical staff. The concussion protocol has been activated.” Later that evening, Sabadell announced that Liameed's condition had improved and that he had been discharged from the hospital.
The match ended with a 2-1 victory for Albacete. The home team was leading 2-0 at the time of the incident but had to continue with ten players after Corpas's expulsion. Eneko Aguilar scored a consolation goal, but Sabadell could not do better.
