Tolu Arokodare is thrilled with his coach, Míchel Sánchez. The striker found the back of the net on Saturday against AZ. Last week, the Spaniard had made some criticisms, but Tolu holds no grudges.

As Tolu continues to score in Amsterdam, Míchel indicated last weekend that he believes the striker could put in more effort in pressing. After the match against AZ, Tolu was asked about this on ESPN.

“Believe me, you will never understand the relationship I have with the coach,” said the Nigerian, who nonetheless expressed high praise for Míchel.

“And not just me, almost all the players feel the same way. The connection is very strong, in a good way. You can’t imagine everything we do together in meetings, especially with match videos. He is a passionate and emotional man who hates losing, even in a rondo.”

“But he acts out of pure kindness; he really doesn’t seek to hurt. I am always ready to learn. That’s the essential mindset for progress.”

Moreover, Tolu has discovered another side of his coach. “He can also be very funny during meetings; everyone laughs out loud. We often only see Míchel’s serious side, but he has a real sense of humor. He is very serious and passionate, but he can also suddenly become very jovial. He brings good vibes to this group, which is crucial. His English has also improved a lot.”
