National Futsal Team Begins Its Journey in the AFCON Today

The national futsal team will kick off its campaign in the 2026 Africa Cup of Nations finals this evening, Monday.

The futsal team will face the Moroccan side, which is hosting the tournament and holds the title, starting at 20:00 Algeria time, at the Moulay Abdellah Sports Complex in Rabat.

The national players completed their final training session on Sunday under the supervision of coach Nourredine Ben Ammar at the Ibn Yassine Hall.

In their first international appearance, the players aim to raise the level of challenge and deliver an outstanding performance in this match, which represents an opportunity to develop their skills and compete against the best teams on the continent.

It is worth noting that coach Ben Ammar has called up 14 players to participate in the AFCON, which starts today, October 12, and runs until the 21st of the same month.

After the opening match, the "Greens," who are in Group A, will face Libya on Wednesday at 17:00 and Zambia on Friday at 20:00. Meanwhile, Group B includes Egypt, Angola, Mozambique, and Tanzania.

The national team qualified for the Africa Cup of Nations for the first time in its history after eliminating Guinea in the qualifiers last February with a resounding 4-0 victory in Conakry and 7-1 in Oran.
