German national football team coach Jürgen Klopp has selected Moroccan player Wael Mouhya, a midfielder for Borussia Mönchengladbach, to join a 24-man squad in preparation for matches against Serbia and the Netherlands in the UEFA Nations League.

Mouhya, who is 17 years old, received the call-up after his impressive performances with his team since the start of the season, despite not being included in the initial list of 44 players announced by Klopp earlier, which aimed to evaluate the available options before choosing the final group.

The German coach expressed his admiration for the young player's abilities and self-confidence, emphasizing his desire to closely observe his playing style both on and off the pitch, as well as monitor his performance during training.

The new squad saw the exclusion of several names, including Niclas Völkmar, Karim Adeyemi, Nadiem Amiri, and David Raum, while Jamal Musiala and Serge Gnabry are absent due to injury.

On the other hand, 33-year-old striker Niclas Füllkrug retained his place in the team after showing strong performances since his return to Werder Bremen last summer, scoring 12 goals in 10 matches across various competitions.

Klopp explained that Füllkrug's call-up was based on his scoring ability and impact on his team, noting that the decision to include him was not difficult given the level he has been demonstrating.

Klopp took charge of the German national team last summer with a contract extending beyond the 2030 World Cup, focusing on building a young group capable of long-term development following the team's repeated failures in recent World Cup editions.

The German national team will kick off their matches against Serbia in Belgrade on November 13, before hosting the Netherlands in Berlin three days later.
