The Moroccan national team secured a victory against their Gabonese counterparts with a score of 2-0 this evening at the Prince Moulay Abdellah Stadium in Rabat, in the opening round of Group A of the African qualifiers for the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations.

From the moment South African referee Tom Bongi started the match, the national team pressed hard against Gabon's goal in search of an early goal, but the "Panthers" defense held firm.

As time passed, the prospect of a goal became clearer, until the 36th minute when the "Lions" scored thanks to an effort from Noussair Mazraoui.

After Mazraoui's goal, the "Lions" sought to secure a second goal, but the score remained unchanged with Morocco leading the "Panthers".

In the second half, the pressure from the "Lions" on Gabon's defense continued in an effort to extend their lead.

In the 84th minute, Sofiane Rahimi added the second goal for the national team.

With this victory, the national team raised their points total to 3, sitting in first place, ahead of Niger on goal difference, while Lesotho occupies third place with no points, surpassing Gabon on goal difference.

It is worth noting that the Moroccan national team will face Lesotho on Tuesday, September 29, in South Africa, in the second round of the African qualifiers.
