The Table Tennis Federation has made a final decision to dismiss coach Mohamed Moutaz due to the Zeina Farouk incident.

The Egyptian Table Tennis Federation, led by Ashraf Helmy, has decided to impose the maximum penalties on coach Mohamed Muntasir by permanently canceling his registration and banning him from any sports activity.

This firm decision came during an emergency meeting held on Wednesday, October 28, 2026, following the unfortunate incident that occurred during the "Week of Hope" tournament in Sheffield, England, earlier in October, where the coach was seen slapping player Zeina Farouk in the face after one of her matches.

The decisions made during the meeting included submitting the results of the official investigations to the Ministry of Youth and Sports and the Egyptian Olympic Committee to take the necessary legal and administrative actions according to each body's jurisdiction.

The federation confirmed in its statement its full commitment to the rights of all players, emphasizing its absolute rejection of any practices that contradict the values and ethical principles that form the foundation of sports in Egypt and around the world.

The Egyptian Table Tennis Federation stressed that the primary goal of sports goes beyond merely winning championships and achieving accomplishments; it includes promoting values of respect, discipline, and sportsmanship, as well as providing a safe environment that protects the dignity of athletes and guarantees their rights.

The statement concluded by affirming that protecting players and maintaining their dignity is a top priority for the board of directors, with a commitment to never tolerate any violations or practices that contradict ethical and sporting values.
